International day of action: solidarity with UBS cleaners
Friday, 19 March 2010
17:00 - 18:00
London demo starts at UBS, 100 Liverpool Street

Friday 19th March is the international day of action against UBS, demanding the reinstatement of sacked shop steward Alberto Durango and the reversal of cuts in cleaners' conditions by contractor Lancaster.

Protests are planned for the USA, Sweden, Switzerland and around the UK. There has been regular leafletting outside UBS offices, let's keep up the pressure and build solidarity with these exploited migrant workers.

The London protest will kick off from 5pm outside the UBS building at 100 Liverpool Street. Come, bring friends, bring stuff to make a noise, bring placards!

News on Solidarity Action in New York :

Solidarity With Alberto Durango
JUSTICE FOR CLEANERS AT UBS (Union Bank of Switzerland)

Friday March 19th, 3:00pm
UBS Headquarters
Meet at the corner of 52nd St. and 6th Ave.
Manhattan, NY

Cleaners at the London branch of the bank UBS began a drive to rebuild the union when the bank changed the subcontractor that hires the cleaners. The new contractor, Lancaster, began an attack on the working conditions of the cleaners and fired Alberto Durango, one of the leaders of the unionization drive. The firing was a clear example of the union busting. Join us to give international support to the workers at UBS in London. Let UBS know that workers everywhere support Alberto Durango and the workers organizing in London! Solidarity knows no borders!

Sponsored By: Socialist Party USA (NYC) and Organization for a Free Society
